The museum's Creating Curriculum Childcare Training Program is an early
childhood education Quality Enhancement training project supported by the NH
Board of Education's School Readiness Initiative.
Creating Curriculum is a collaborative program, now in its eighth year, of the
Connecticut Children's Museum and its child care program, Creating Kids, and the Fair
Haven Community Health Center.
Creating Curriculum will be offered as a Gateway Community College course in 2006.
This is an innovative and experiential training program which uses the structure of
a children's museum and the program model of multiple intelligences.
Child care providers from inner-city home and center-based settings gather for fifteen
evening sessions for a skills-building seminar course, taught in a creative
framework of lectures, multi-media presentations and interactive workshops.
This program increases the quality of child care and school readiness for
New Haven's children through staff development; participants earn college credits or credits towards their
CDA -- Child Development Associate certificate.
